As you remember these fallen officers, take comfort in recalling that they dedicated their lives to the same principles of honor, duty and courage that brought you to the badge. Officer Down: Police Officer Michael Crawshaw - [Penn Hills, Pennsylvania]
Cause of Death: Gunfire
Officer Michael Crawshaw was shot and killed from ambush while responding to a domestic disturbance call on Johnston Road. Officer Crawshaw was the first officer to arrive on the scene and had parked several houses away to wait for backup.
He was ambushed and shot as he sat in his patrol car by a man armed with a semi-automatic rifle.
The suspect fled the scene and remains at large.
Officer Crawshaw had served with the Penn Hills Police Department for four years. He had previously served with the University of Pittsburgh Police Department.
