Sheriff's corporal accused of DWI, authorities say

(KRUM, Texas) -- A Denton County Sheriff's Department corporal has been arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated in connection with a traffic accident Friday, authorities said.

No serious injuries were reported in the one-car wreck near Krum in Denton County.

Cpl. Arthur Wiltsie, 51, of Sanger was arraigned Nov. 18 on suspicion of DWI and was released hours later on a personal recognizance bond, authorities said.

The accident occurred about 7:45 p.m. on Farm Road 2450.

Wiltsie lost control of the vehicle as he reached for an object, said Kevin Patton, a Sheriff's Department spokesman.

The car veered into a ditch, and Wiltsie called in the accident, Patton said.

He was taken to a Denton hospital as a precaution and was moved to Denton County Jail, Patton said.

Wiltsie, a three-year veteran of the department, is an administrator of grants and revenue. He was suspended with pay pending an internal investigation, Patton said.
