Two officers under investigation for theft
of $30,000 during drug raid, newspaper reports
[PHILADELPHIA, PA]

PoliceOne Staff Report
(PHILADELPHIA) -- Two officers are under investigation after a suspect accused them of pocketing $30,000 during a drug raid of his home, the Philadelphia Daily News reported.

The officers were part of a 10-member team that raided the suspected drug dealer's house last May, police sources told the News.

According to the News's police sources, who were not named, after an initial investigation, the police department handed the case off to the FBI.

The two officers, who were not named by the News, have been transferred to other duties. Other officers were also questioned about the theft, but were not the focus of the investigation, the newspaper reported.

The Daily News requested verification on the story from an Fraternal Order of Police lawyer, the U.S. Attorney Michael Stiles, the FBI and an official police department comment, but all refused to make a statement about the alleged investigation.

"We don't confirm or deny investigations," FBI Special Agent and spokeswoman Linda Vizi told the Daily News.
