Brazilian officer, other man charged in illegal steroids case
[FAYETTEVILLE, NC]

PoliceOne Staff Report
(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) -- A Brazilian police officer and another man were arrested after a traffic stop last week in which deputies found 321,000 tablets of illegal steroids in their car, authorities said.

Bail has been set at $500,000 for Jean Michel Helou, 29, and Joao Paulu Saqueto, 36, who were charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and distribute a controlled substance, conspiracy and using a rented car to sell the drugs, according to the Fayetteville Observer.

Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Stephanie Hardy, estimated each tablet to be valued at between $5 and $10, said making the contraband worth between $1.6 and $3.2 million in street value.

Henlou, who is an electrical salesman, and Saqueto, who is a police officer in Brazil, were reported to be headed to New York from Miami.

They were stopped by Sgt. Mark Hart for speeding about 2 p.m. in I-95. The two men allowed Hart to search the vehicle and that's when he found two sealed motor oil boxes filled with the illegal steroids, the Observer reported.
