Turski of Marilla, a retired Buffalo police officer, died Friday (Dec. 8, 2000) in Roswell Park Cancer Institute after a lengthy battle with leukemia. He was 71.

Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of East High School and served in the Army in Germany during the Korean War.

He served as a Buffalo police officer for 37 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Buffalo Police Benevolent Association.

He and Phyllis Mozolf were married in 1951.

He enjoyed playing cards, working on cars, gardening and computers.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons, James R. of North Tonawanda, David of Attica and Paul of Lancaster; three daughters, Carol Ann Smith of Cheektowaga, Patricia Bushorr of Williamsville and Nancy Turski-Mack of West Seneca; a brother, Bernard of Cheektowaga; a sister, Dorothy Potwora of Littleton, Colo.; and five grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursday in Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 7580 Clinton St., Elma.
