(PLYMOUTH, Mich.) -- Service for Loren LeRoy Johnson, Plymouth's former assistant police chief, were Monday in the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main, in Plymouth.

Mr. Johnson, who served as assistant chief of the Plymouth Police Department from 1962 to 1980, died of a blood disease on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, in Port Richey, Fla., where moved after his retirement in 1980. He was 84.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Marie; a son, David; a daughter, Kay Jones-Case; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Burial was in Oakland Hills Cemetery in Novi.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Western Wayne County, 6701 Harrison, Garden City, Mich. 48135.
