Two Colorado officers injured
in separate accidental shootings

) -- Two officers, one a rookie and the other a 22-year veteran, accidentally shot themselves in separate incidents yesterday, according to police.
Both sustained only minor injuries and were treated and released from Denver Health Medical Center.
The first misfire happened around 2:30 a.m. when Officer Jessie Espinoza, who has been in the department less than one year, shot himself in the leg.
Police Chief Gerry Whitman said that investigators had collected many witness statements and "lots of evidence," according to the Denver Rocky Mountain News.
The second shooting occurred at 11 a.m. when Officer Eugene Martinez, who became an officer in 1978, shot himself while getting into his car. He drove himself to the hospital.
Police wound not say if either officer would be disciplined for the shootings.
