Sergeant accused of
spousal abuse resigns
[East Palo Alto, CA]

PoliceOne Staff Report
(EAST PALO ALTO, Calif. ) -- A sergeant who had been on administrative leave for a year after his December 1999 arrest for alleged spousal abuse has resigned from the East Palo Alto Police Department.

Gregg Alan Reich, 50, an eight-year veteran of the force, had allegedly grabbed his wife and prevented her from leaving their home in Livermore, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Reich had been arrested last month on a similar complaint but no charges were lodged in that incident, the newspaper reported.

Michael Lawson, city attorney, told the newspaper that Reich's resignation was effective last Friday.
