(NEW ORLEANS, La.) -- A New Orleans motorcycle police officer suffered minor injuries Friday when he lost control of his bike on the West Bank Expressway in Harvey, authorities said.

Officer Brian Frere was traveling westbound about 1:15 p.m. on the elevated expressway at Manhattan Boulevard when something caused his motorcycle to come from beneath him, said New Orleans police spokesman Lt. Marlon Defillo.

Frere suffered an injured leg and was taken to Tulane University Medical Center for treatment, Defillo said.
