[Phenix City, AL]

PoliceOne Staff Report
(PHENIX CITY, Ala.) -- A police officer shot and injured a man after he refused to drop the shotgun he was holding.

Wayne Hollis, 32, was taken to The Medical Center in Columbus where he was treated for his wounds. His condition was not immediately known, but police said they would be charging him with attempted murder in connection with the incident.

Police confronted Hollis at 11th Ave. and Dillingham St. on Jan. 5 and ordered him to put down the shotgun, according to the Ledger-Enquirer. He refused and the officer, whose name has not been released, shot him.

Police did not say how many shots were fired.

The shooting is being investigated by the Phenix City Police, the Russell County Sheriff's office and the Alabama Bureau of Investigation, the Ledger-Enquirer reported
