(BUFFALO, NY) -- Emma Louise Yarrington, 85, a retired Erie County sheriff's deputy, dies Tuesday (Jan. 9, 2001) in Mercy Hospital, Buffalo, after a brief illness.

The former Emma Faulring, the daughter of a suffragette, worked as a deputy in the Erie County Sheriff's Department beginning under Sheriff B. John Tutuska. She retired in 1980. While she spent most of her career there in the training academy, she also worked under central police services.
