Obituary: Paul Beloff, state police sergeant, dies at 66

(SALEM, Mass.) -- Paul M. Beloff of Salem, a retired State Police sergeant, died Sunday in Salem Hospital. He was 66.

Mr. Beloff was raised in Marblehead. He joined the State Police in 1957. At various times, he was a spokesman for the department, a liaison officer, and a member of its major crimes unit. He retired in 1984.

A former member of the Marblehead Safety Commission, he was a Mason and a member of the Elks.

He enjoyed boating and was a member of the Boston Yacht Club.

He leaves his wife, Nancy Ann (Proctor); two sons, Peter Beloff of Marblehead and John Dyer of Salem; three daughters, Tracey Haskell of Epping, N.H., Carol Nason of Newburyport, and Elizabeth Wilson of Salisbury; and six grandchildren.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Murphy Funeral Home in Salem. Burial will be in Amesbury Cemetery.
