Police chase ends in death of innocent driver
[Atlanta, GA]

(ATLANTA) – A man taking his children to an Atlanta Hawks game was killed when a killed when a sports utility vehicle fleeing police slammed into his car.

Authorities say that Terron Phillips, 32, was thrown from the car, which then struck an abutment Wednesday. His daughter and stepsons, who were in the back seat, were injured in the crash.

Tonialo Vashon Dennis, 24, was charged with vehicular homicide and assaulting a police officer.

Investigators say that Dennis was halted at a police checkpoint at about 6:30 p.m. and struck a lientenant with his Chevrolet Suburban before taking off. Police pursued him onto an interstate highway and then to the exit where he crashed into Phillips’ car.
