EXPERIENCE THE OLYMPICS FIRSTHAND

The XIX Winter Olympics will be held February 8-24, 2002 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The eyes of the world will be focused on Utah and the United States of America during this exciting time.

In preparation for the 2002 Olympics, the State of Utah created the Utah Olympic Public Safety Command (UOPSC). UOPSC is comprised of local, state and federal law enforcement and public safety agencies responsible for providing security and public safety services during the Games.

UOPSC is looking for volunteer law enforcement officers willing to assist during Games time. UOPSC staff is dedicated to making this experience a very enjoyable and memorable one for all involved.

UOPSC will provide the following amenities for volunteers:

- Housing accommodations
- Meals (3 per day)
- Transportation while in Utah
- Winter weather clothing consisting of a coat, fleece, snow pants and hat
- Olympic training
- Liability and workers’ compensation coverage while on duty
- A once-in-a-lifetime experience
- Opportunity to meet new friends
- Opportunity to gain new skills

Volunteers will be responsible for their travel to and from Utah and responsible for bringing their duty uniform and equipment. Additionally, preference will be given to volunteers who can commit to serve 21-26 days.

IF you are interested, please fill out an application at www.uopsc.org or contact Jennifer Whimpey at uopsc@dps.state.ut.us with questions.

Don’t pass up this unique experience. It will be a great highlight of your law enforcement career.
