Indianapois June 24, 2000 for the national convention of the Police Car Owners Of America and "Cruis'n with the Cops" car show. The event will be held at the Indiana State Police Youth Education & Historical Center at 8500 E 21st Street in Indianapolis.According to Ernie Alder, one of the organizers of the event, more than 200 cars are expected, ranging in age from the very first police cars of the 1930s to sleek new high performance vehicles. "It's always a great time," said Alder. "Most of these cars have been beautifully restored and they are really something to see."Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. with the show opening at 1:00 p.m. Those displaying cars pay a $12 entry fee. For spectators, the event is free and open to the public."The first 100 cars that enter will receive collectible dash placques," said Alder. "We're also going to have door prizes, food and even a live DJ." Prizes will be awarded for the top 25 entries, including Best of Show."Cruis'n With the Cops" is sponsored by the Indiana State Police, the Indiana Black Troopers Association, Hoosier Late Great Chevys Club and Rick's Heating and Air Conditioning. The event is open to anyone interested.Proceeds will go to support the Indiana State Police Youth Education and Historical Center.
