Chandler Police Department Communications Section Accredited

Member Submission

Chandler, Arizona - The Chandler Police Department Communications Section was recently accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. This accreditation makes the City of Chandler the first municipality in the nation to have their Police, Fire and Communications departments accredited.

The accreditation represents the satisfactory completion of a process of a thorough, agency wide self-evaluation, concluded by an exacting outside review by a team of independent assessors. The final stage involved members of the police department participating in a committee hearing where they presented file documents, an oral summary of events, and responded to questions from the Commissioners. Upon meeting the strict requirements for accreditation, there was a formal presentation on the evening of Nov. 17, in San Diego, California.

Chief Bobby Joe Harris stated "Our department strives for excellence in all of our individual sections. Our communications section has long been regarded as one of the best and has been used as an example to follow by many other agencies. I am very proud that they have received this official accreditation to recognize their excellent service and dedication to our community."
