Police Search for Suspect After Police Chase Ends in Drug Bust

Associated Press

CLEVELAND, Miss. (AP) - A man who was initially pulled over by police for driving in the wrong lane ran from the scene, leaving behind a bag of marijuana and a pistol, officials said.

A search continued Tuesday for the unidentified suspect who led police on a car chase about 9 p.m. Sunday.

Cleveland Police officer Joshua Moore said the man ignored his warning to get back into the car and stay there after he was pulled over.

"I told him to get back in the car. When he did, he left in the vehicle. I followed him for about a block with the siren on and then called in pursuit," Moore said.

The chase ended when the man got out of the car and ran into a neighborhood, Moore said.

Officers are hoping to trace information from the serial number on a loaded 9 mm pistol.
