EmailPrintCommentRegister Ill. Chief Wins Car with Amazing Golf ShotMember SubmissionBy Patrick Ferrell, The Star The odds of an amateur golfer shooting a hole in one on a single hole are about 33,600 to one. Country Club Hills Police Chief William Brown defied perhaps even greater odds when he shot a hole in one Wednesday on the 7th hole at Odyssey Country Club in Tinley Park. It's the first time Brown, who golfs at least four times a week, has made an ace. It could not come at a more convenient time. It was the second annual Together We Cope golf outing and Brown's foursome was playing on a hole sponsored by Mercedes of Orland Park, 8430 W. 159th St. Because of the shot, Brown is now the proud owner of a Mercedes C-230WZ sports sedan. David Nocera, general sales manager, said the dealership annually sponsors holes for a number of golf outings by promising a new car for any holes in one. "We've been here for 13 years, and it's the first time we've ever given one out," Nocera said. "I've been in the business for 27 years, and it has never happened."
