Man suspected to have shot two Denver Police officers working off duty, killing one and wounding the other, was caught in Mexico by the US Marshalls Saturday evening at approximately 6:30 pm mountain time.
Denver authorities are trying to bring Garcia-Gomez back to Colorado, however, the Mexican government will not extradite if the death penalty is saught in a capital murder case. Denver DA Mitch Morrisey said at a news conference "I will do what it takes to get Garcia-Gomez back to Colorado to stand trial." Morrisey said he will talk to the family of slain detective Donald Young and his partner that was also shot that night, to see if they want to pursue the death penalty.
Garcia-Gomez is being extradited to Mexico City on Sunday at which point they will determine whether to extradite him back to the states.
