Standoff in Ohio Results in Arrest of Man Wanted in Stabbing

MANSFIELD, Ohio -- The city's second potentially explosive police standoff in 24 hours ended peacefully Saturday afternoon with the arrest of a man wanted for attempted murder.

Acting on tips, officers arrived to arrest Lemont Gray, 34, at an apartment at 531 Allison Ave., Mansfield Police Department Chief Phil Messer said. The incident began around 2:30 p.m.

Gray had been sought for allegedly stabbing and choking his estranged girlfriend, Dawn L. Smedley, 35, Thursday evening at their residence at 114 Western Ave.
