Two Long Beach officers hurt in crash

LONG BEACH, Calif. (CNS) — Two Long Beach police officers were injured early today when an SUV collided with their patrol car, and the cruiser burst into flames, police said.

The crash occurred around 12:30 a.m. at Los Coyotes Diagonal and Palo Verde Avenue in Long Beach, said Long Beach Police Department spokesperson Nancy Pratt.

The officer driving the cruiser suffered head injuries and two broken legs, she said. The othe officer and the SUV driver, who reportedly is in his late teens, were treated for minor injuries.
