Retired Calif. officer shoots at robber
The Fresno Bee
SANTA ANA. Calif. — Police say a retired police officer shot at two fleeing robbery suspects, but no one was hurt in the incident.
Sgt. Brad Sadler says the incident started about 3:30 p.m. Monday in a Wells Fargo bank parking lot on South Bristol Street. Two men struggled with a woman, taking her purse and fleeing.
The retired officer followed the suspects into a nearby parking lot and positioned his vehicle in front of theirs. The man identified himself and drew his gun.
Sadler says the car backed up, striking another vehicle, then quickly came forward. The retired officer fired multiple shots at the suspect's vehicle. Police arrested its occupants a short time later.
A 23-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy are in custody.
Police have not released the name of the retired officer, only saying he used to work for an Orange County police agency.
