Additional Info: Deputy Burns had been a reserve deputy with the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office for five years.

Cause of Death: Deputy Burns was killed in an head-on collision car accident.

Date of Incident: August 20, 2005

Suspect Info: The suspect, Lee Marvin Grant, 29, is charged with felony driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license and violation of the habitual offender act.

ST. GEORGE -- A 32-year old reserve Dorchester County deputy sheriff was killed early Saturday in a head-on collision on U.S. Hwy. 178, near Shady Grove community, St. George.

Keith R. Burns of St. George died at Trident Medical Center from injuries sustained in the 2:44 a.m. accident.

Burns was alone, traveling west on U.S. Hwy. 178 toward Bowman, when his vehicle was struck head on by an east-bound vehicle that had pulled out to pass the car in front of it, said Sid Gaulden, spokesman for the S.C. Department of Public Safety.
