By Christina Sosa, www.bakersfield.com Calif. -- Calls poured into local California Highway Patrol offices Thursday as news of the previous day’s death of CHP Officer Erick Manny in a car accident spread around the state. Drivers from all over California said they saw the fatal crash on Interstate 5 near the Grapevine and the high-speed chase that led up to it, CHP Officer Greg Williams said. Callers added a little to the scant information the CHP had about the crash, which happened around 11:30 a.m. and claimed the life of the Bakersfield father and four-year CHP veteran.
