As you remember these fallen officers, take comfort in recalling that they dedicated their lives to the same principles of honor, duty and courage that brought you to the badge. Such a life is truly rich. Take strength in knowing that when an officer falls, our resolve to serve those in need is not diminished. Our dedication to protecting those in danger is not weakened. Our commitment to remembering those with whom we shared the badge does not fade.

NM cop dies in three-car auto wreck
Officer Down: Dean Miera - [Bernalillo County, New Mexico]

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Deputy Dean Miera was killed in an automobile accident at the intersection of Gibson Boulevard and Carlisle Boulevard SE in Albuquerque. His unmarked vehicle was involved in a crash with two other vehicles.
Deputy Miera had served with the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department for nine years and was assigned to the Judicial Operations Division. He is survived by his wife, four children, and two grandchildren.
