As you remember these fallen officers, take comfort in recalling that they dedicated their lives to the same principles of honor, duty and courage that brought you to the badge. JEMISON, Ala. — Officer Donald Newman was killed in an automobile accident while responding to head-on vehicle crash involving children.
His patrol car hydroplaned during a period of heavy rain and struck a utility pole on U.S. Highway 31.
Officer Newman had served with the Jemison Police Department for just over two years and had previously served as a military police officer in the U.S. Air Force for six years. He is survived by his wife and 4-year-old son.
