As you remember these fallen officers, take comfort in recalling that they dedicated their lives to the same principles of honor, duty and courage that brought you to the badge. Such a life is truly rich. Take strength in knowing that when an officer falls, our resolve to serve those in need is not diminished. Our dedication to protecting those in danger is not weakened. Our commitment to remembering those with whom we shared the badge does not fade.

Deputy sheriff dies in auto accident
Officer Down: Jeffrey Alexander - [Chemung County, New York]

CHEMUNG COUNTY, N.Y. — Deputy Sheriff Jeffrey Alexander was killed Sunday, June 12 when his patrol car collided with another vehicle.
ODMP reports that While he was on patrol, he lost control of his cruiser, striking an oncoming car as he went around a curve in the road.
The accident occurred as he was traveling northwest on State Route 427.
According to WIVB.com, the identity of the driver of the other car has not yet been made public - just that the victim was 77 years old.
Deputy Alexander had served with the Chemung County Sheriff's Department for five years. He is survived by his parents and fiancée.
