As you remember these fallen officers, take comfort in recalling that they dedicated their lives to the same principles of honor, duty and courage that brought you to the badge. Such a life is truly rich. Take strength in knowing that when an officer falls, our resolve to serve those in need is not diminished. Our dedication to protecting those in danger is not weakened. Our commitment to remembering those with whom we shared the badge does not fade.
Godspeed, brothers and sisters. You fought the good fight. Now rest in peace…

Colo. officer struck during traffic stop dies
Officer Down: Jeremy Bitner - [Englewood, Colorado]
By Joey Bunch
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Englewood police officer Jeremy Bitner died early Monday, Chief John Collins said Tuesday afternoon.
Bitner, 39, was struck by an alleged drunk driver during a traffic stop.
The news was released Tuesday, "because we wanted to give the family some space and some time for recovery," Collins said.
Though Collins wasn't sure, Bitner could be the first Englewood officer killed in the line of duty.
"Officer Bitner loved his job," Collins said. "He served his country and the city of Englewood with honor."
