As you remember these fallen officers, take comfort in recalling that they dedicated their lives to the same principles of honor, duty and courage that brought you to the badge. Such a life is truly rich. Take strength in knowing that when an officer falls, our resolve to serve those in need is not diminished. Our dedication to protecting those in danger is not weakened. Our commitment to remembering those with whom we shared the badge does not fade.

West Indies Detective Killed; Shot, Thrown From Bridge
Officer Down: Constable Derrick Nelson - [Trinidad , ]
Constable Derrick Nelson succumbed to injuries on June 7, that he suffered when was shot by bandits then thrown over a bridge.
He fell some 25 feet.
Nelson died at 10:45 a.m. at San Fernando General Hospital. He was lived in St. Augustine, Trinidad.
Nelson, 37, was a police bodyguard assigned to protect Judge Herbert Volney. While on duty, he was ambushed and shot in both knees then thrown over a bridge. Before he was tossed over the bridge he was robbed of $600 and his pistol.
He will be given a military funeral.
Investigations are continuing into his violent and senseless death.
