Other Police Agencies Assisting After Deputy's Death
Officer Down: Perry Filmore - [Clinton County, Michigan]
After the death of a Clinton County, Mich. deputy, law enforcement agencies in the area reach out to help after the tragedy.
Michigan State Police troopers will be patrolling Clinton County for the next couple of days to give the sheriff's department time to mourn the loss of a deputy.
37-year-old Perry Filmore died early Saturday morning after his cruiser crashed into a house in Westphalia Township. Filmore was responding to a request for back up when the accident happened. The incident is still under investigation. State police say when something like this happens, other local agencies share in the pain.
Lt. Gary Nix, Michigan State Police: "Any time an officer dies in the line of duty, we feel it affects all of us, especially when it's so close to home."
While the state police patrol Clinton County, both Ingham and Eaton County sheriff's departments are covering state police patrols in their counties. Funeral arrangements have been set for deputy Filmore
