Tenn. Officer Dies in One-Car Crash
Officer Down: Marlon Titus - [Memphis, Tennessee]
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- A Memphis police officer answering a routine
call died early Tuesday when his cruiser swerved off the street and
crashed into a wall.
Patrolman Marlon Titus, 31, was alone in the car and the cause of the
crash was under investigation, police said.
Titus was responding to a call at about 2 a.m. to help other officers
at a convenience store search for a suspected thief.
A witness told WMC-TV that it appeared Titus lost control of the
patrol car which jumped a curb, crossed a parking lot and crashed
into the wall of a building.
Police said Titus was pronounced dead at the Regional Medical Center
