Tenn. Officer Dies in One-Car Crash

As you remember these fallen officers, take comfort in recalling that they dedicated their lives to the same principles of honor, duty and courage that brought you to the badge. Such a life is truly rich. Take strength in knowing that when an officer falls, our resolve to serve those in need is not diminished. Our dedication to protecting those in danger is not weakened. Our commitment to remembering those with whom we shared the badge does not fade.

Godspeed, brothers and sisters. You fought the good fight. Now rest in peace…

Tenn. Officer Dies in One-Car Crash

Officer Down: Marlon Titus - [Memphis, Tennessee]

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- A Memphis police officer answering a routine call died early Tuesday when his cruiser swerved off the street and crashed into a wall.

Patrolman Marlon Titus, 31, was alone in the car and the cause of the crash was under investigation, police said.

Titus was responding to a call at about 2 a.m. to help other officers at a convenience store search for a suspected thief.

A witness told WMC-TV that it appeared Titus lost control of the patrol car which jumped a curb, crossed a parking lot and crashed into the wall of a building.

Police said Titus was pronounced dead at the Regional Medical Center at Memphis.
