Texas sheriff accepts plea

An Amarillo TV station reports that former Potter County (Texas) Sheriff Mike Shumate accepted a plea agreement in which he was sentenced to 6 months in jail and given 8 years probation. In a trial that ended late last week, Shumate was found not guilty on two counts of illegal campaign contributions.
