Ind. drug officer accused of selling gun to felon

INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis police officer has been arrested on charges that he sold a handgun to a known felon.

Authorities say 32-year-old Jason Barber, an eight-year veteran of the force, was arrested today at his home.

Beside the gun charge, he also faces another felony charge of official misconduct.

Barber had been working with the department's narcotics branch in the dangerous drug section. Police say his arrest is not related to the indictments of two other officers in that unit on federal drug charges this month, although the two investigations were parallel.

It was not immediately known whether Barber had an attorney.
