SHREVEPORT, La. — Surrounded by family, the Shreveport police officer shot in the mouth last week left the hospital and headed home.
Officer John Madjerick emerged from LSU Hospital yesterday, dressed in uniform and a neckbrace, before he was escorted home in a marked police cruiser. Madjerick was released with enough time to make it home and catch the Super Bowl, where he planned to cheer for his home team, the New York Giants.
While Madjerick continues his recovery at home, the man accused of shooting him remains in police custody in Houston.
Lucien Trammell waived extradition during a court hearing Friday in Harris County District Court and should return to Shreveport some time this week.
Trammell is accused of shooting Madjerick while the officer questioned him in Shreveport's Valley View neighborhood Tuesday. Upon his return, Trammell will face a charge of attempted first-degree murder.
