N.Y. teen opens fire on officers

The Associated Press

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. - A 17-year-old boy in suburban New York is being held on $1 million bail after being accused of opening fire on two police officers and head-butting one.

Mount Vernon police say the high school student has been arrested three times in seven days this month on weapons charges.

Police say the boy opened fire on two officers who were sent to South 21st Avenue near West Second Street to investigate reports of shots fired. Upon spotting the boy, they noticed he had a gun and gave chase. Police say the boy opened fire while fleeing.

Police say the boy head-butted one of the officers after he was put in handcuffs.
