COLUMBUS, Ohio — Columbus police shot and killed an armed man yesterday — the second time in three days, and the most recent incident in an unusually combative month between officers and people with guns.
Police Chief Walter Distelzweig said the spate of police-involved shootings — six in August, compared with six for all the rest of 2011 — hasn't made officers more likely to fire their weapons out on the beat.
