The 15-year Cleveland police veteran shot the man when he tried to run down the officer with a pickup truck as he backed out of a driveway on Herrick Road.

The 58-year-old man who had been kidnapped from a home in Cleveland was not injured during the ordeal, Cleveland spokesman Sammy Morris said.
