THORNTON, Colo. — Police officers shot and killed a man after a police chase overnight in Denver and Thornton.
Thornton Police said its officers were initially called to an apartment complex in the 300 block of E. 88th Avenue, near I-25, at 11:30 p.m. on a report of a shot fired during a possible domestic violence incident.
As officers were arriving, they said they saw the suspect driving away.
Officers tried to stop the driver, but he eluded them, Thornton Police said.
Investigators said officers chased the driver into Denver and back to the apartment complex in Thornton where he collided with two police cars.
"At this point, multiple officers from the Thornton and Denver Police Departments fired their weapons at the suspect," Thornton police said in a news release. "The suspect was struck by the gunfire and was later pronounced deceased at the scene."
Thornton police said a firearm was found in the suspect's possession.
Investigators have not yet released the man's name. Neighbors told 7NEWS the man lived with his girlfriend at the Renaissance 88 Apartments.
