Ore. police seek driver who rammed two patrol cars

FOREST GROVE, Ore. — Police were looking for a driver who ran away after ramming two Forest Grove patrol cars that were pursuing a suspected drunken driver early today.

Sgt. Jeffrey Williams said the incident happened about 2 a.m. in the 2300 block of Elm Street. No one was injured.

Police later determined the driver was a juvenile and contacted two of his three passengers who also ran. They were not arrested.

Williams said a patrol officer tried to stop a sport utility vehicle being driven erratically on 23rd Avenue. When the SUV turned onto Elm Street, another officer joined the pursuit.

The SUV suddenly braked, and the first officer got out of his car. But the SUV quickly backed and struck the car as the officer jumped out of the way.

The SUV pulled around and rammed the second car, then hit the first car again. By that time, the SUV and patrol cars were undrivable, and the SUV was impounded, Williams said.

Anyone with information is asked to call 503-992-3260.
