Minn. officer struck by vehicle; in good condition

The Associated Press

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — A Minneapolis traffic control officer was hospitalized for observation overnight after he was hit by a vehicle.

Sgt. Jesse Garcia said the officer was in good condition at Hennepin County Medical Center and doing well late Thursday. No one else was injured.

The officer was directing traffic at the intersection of Central and University avenues when he was hit just after 5:00 p.m. He was wearing full reflective gear and the driver had his headlights on, police said.

It wasn't clear if road conditions or inattentive driving played a part in the accident. The accident remained under investigation.
