DALLAS — Two people accused of attacking an off-duty officer are in jail this morning, Dallas police said.

Police arrived at an apartment complex in the 13300 block of Mahan Road around 9 p.m. Sunday to assist Officer Bennette Harris, who works off-duty as a complex courtesy officer, Dallas police Cpl. Gerry Monreal said.

Officer Harris said a resident told him there was an argument in the parking lot, and he went over to break up the fight between a man and two women. The three then began to attack the officer, police said. At least six witnesses tried to stop the fight, police said.

Officer Harris sustained injuries to his knees and cuts to his hands. One witness who tried to intervene was injured in the face.

The suspects fled when police arrived. Nofessa McCoy, 27, who lives in the complex, and Shinold Wilson, 38, were arrested when they returned to the complex, police said. They are accused of assault of a public officer. One woman remains at-large.
