N.M. police car demolished by train

VALENCIA COUNTY, N.M. — Two state police officers narrowly escaped being hit by a train after their car got stuck on the tracks.

A New Mexico state policeman and another volunteer officer had driven down State Road 6 in

Valencia County early Saturday morning, after receiving a call about a house party.

The area was rural and deeply rutted and the officers' car got stuck right on top of the train tracks, with a train on the way.  The officers tried to push the car off the tracks when they were warned of an incoming train.
