Surveillance footage is at the center of lawsuit, which alleges the 'attack' was unprovoked

DETROIT, Mich. — Surveillance footage has been released showing a Detroit police officer punching a suspect inside the MGM Grand Detroit Casino after the man appeared to get in the officer's face.
The incident, which took place inside the U Me Drink club at the casino on July 30, is at the center of a lawsuit filed by Patrick Poisson, 38, who says he was "attacked" by the officer in an "unprovoked" assault.
According to the Detroit Free Press, the officers responded to a complaint by a waitress, who alleged that Poisson touched her inappropriately. They can be seen asking Poisson to leave, but as he walks out he appears to get in the face of Officer Arthur Dudal, who drops him with a sequence of punches. As the officers attempt to cuff Poisson, he begins resisting, at which point Officer Dudal lands two more punches to the body.
Poisson was initially charged with assault and battery on a police officer and fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, but both charges were later dropped.
Poisson is seeking unspecified damages in the suit.
