Video: Man arrested after robbing clerk in front of cop

As the store manager gathered the money, customers stayed calm and the store manager smiled

SNELLVILLE, Ga. — Police arrested a Gwinnett County man who robbed a convenience store in front of an officer.

Surveillance video released by WSBTV shows Stephen Daniel demand money from a clerk — much to the disbelief of Lt. B.W. Brown, who was standing just a few feet away.

“There’s no way he’s dumb enough to do this with me standing right behind him,” Brown remembered thinking.

As the store manager gathered the money, customers stayed perfectly calm.

“The manager was laughing at the time he was putting the money in the bag because he was looking at me over the guy who was robbing him,” Brown said.

Brown added that when Daniel turned and saw him, the whole store started laughing. He was sent to the Gwinnett County Detention Center shortly afterward.

“In 34 years, I have never had one happen the way this one did,” Brown said.
