Video: Officer shoots, kills pit bull in parking lot

He attempted to stop the dog by kicking it away, but when that failed, he put one round into the creature

By PoliceOne Staff

LUBBOCK, Texas — The Lubbock Police Department released dash-cam video Wednesday of an officer fatally shooting a pit bull while separating two dogs as they fought in a parking lot.

Officer Clinton Lewis made short work of the response to calls that the aggressive pit bull posed danger to not only the other dog, but a number of people standing nearby.

He attempted to stop the dog by kicking it away, but when that failed, he put one round into the creature.
According to WAFB-TV, Lewis wrote in his report on the Sept. 8 incident that “The dog placed myself and others in danger of serious bodily injury. I fired one round into the dog with my LPD-issued pistol.
