Video: Wis. officer captures falling meteor on dash cam

Just before midnight the squad's camera caught a fleeting glimpse of the falling rock while the car was parked at a mall

MADISON, Wis. — You would expect a police squad car camera to record video of a traffic stop or an arrest, but once in a while the unexpected happens.

A meteor falls.

This was nothing criminal, just a Madison squad in the right place at the right time overnight Wednesday. Just before midnight the squad's camera caught a fleeting glimpse of the falling rock while the car was parked at Westgate Mall.

The Madison Police Department posted the an incident report about the video on its website.
