BRAZIL, Ind.- A standoff involving a Clay County sheriff's deputy who allegedly fired at officers trying to arrest him Friday morning stretched into the night, with the deputy refusing to leave his western Indiana home, state police said.
The incident began about 10:30 a.m. when state troopers and officers from the Clay County Sheriff's Department tried to serve a felony warrant on the deputy at his home, located on U.S. 40 about five miles west of Brazil, police said.
The deputy came out at about 2 p.m., fired a gun once, went back inside his home and then fired a second shot through an open window, police said. No one was injured by the shots. ...
