MIAMI, Fla. - Miami Beach and Miami police are investigating a stabbing and an officer-involved shooting that took place early Friday morning.

The stabbing occurred in Miami Beach. Police there said a suspect in the stabbing took off in a red SUV when they tried to question him.

Police pursued the fleeing suspect east across the McArthur Causeway. Witnesses said they saw the SUV and three police cars speeding through red lights.

A city of Miami officer tried to stop the vehicle by standing in front of it. Police said the man in the SUV tried to drive over the officer.

The suspect then got out of the vehicle and started running, police said. Miami Beach officers began shooting at him, witnesses said. Whether the suspect was hit is unclear, but police eventually used a Taser on him.

The shooting occurred at 4:44 a.m. at Northeast Miami Avenue and 13th Terrace, according to Miami police spokesman Delrish Moss.
