CINCINNATI — A man suspected of stealing ice cream from a store was fatally shot by police after a running gun battle along several street blocks, police said.
Police were at the scene when Moore returned to the store to get a spoon for a container of ice cream he was holding.
When Moore fled, police began chasing him. Police first fired a taser at Moore, who drew a .22 caliber handgun and began firing, Streicher said. Streicher does not know whether police fired the taser before or after Moore fired his first shot, he said.
A "running gun battle" ensued along several blocks, Streicher said. A total of 19 shots were fired - three by Moore. Two officers shot Moore multiple times. A total of five officers were involved in the chase.
Traces of marijuana were recovered at the scene of the shooting, Streicher said.
