CHEYENNE (WTE) - A man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly leading law enforcement agencies on a chase through the east side of the city and onto the interstates.

According to Laramie County Sheriff's Department spokesman Gerry Luce, Michael G. Edmundson, 42, was approached by Cheyenne police about 4:30 p.m. when officers responded to a disturbance at 1201 E. Seventh St.

Edmundson allegedly fled but was sighted on Campstool Road by sheriff's deputies. They followed him over to College Drive and then onto westbound Interstate 80. He then turned south on I-25 and then onto Prairie Road.

At some point the Wyoming Highway Patrol also got involved, Luce said.

Edmundson finally was arrested in the 1700 block of Terry Ranch Road, but not before he rammed his 1990 Mercury Sable into a sheriff's department car driven by Sgt. Terry Bohlig, Luce said.

The car didn't sustain major damage.

Edmundson had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court on citations for driving with a suspended license and no proof of liability insurance.

Luce said investigators will recommend Edmundson be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in relation to the allegation involving Bohlig, attempting to elude police, reckless endangerment and possession of marijuana.

Luce said the investigation was ongoing as of 6 p.m. Tuesday, and he didn't know if alcohol was a factor in the incident.
